Photocleavable Biotin is a biotinylation reagent that contains a photocleavable linker, allowing the biotin group to be released upon exposure to specific wavelengths of light, typically UV. This feature is useful in applications where reversible labeling is required, such as in protein-protein interaction studies or immunoprecipitation assays.
Once the biotin is cleaved, the molecule can be isolated or analyzed without the biotin tag interfering, providing flexibility in experimental designs. Photocleavable Biotin is commonly used in Western Blotting, Immunohistochemistry, and ELISA, offering controlled release of the label for more dynamic and versatile experimental setups.
