PEG SATA

PEG SATA (N-succinimidyl S-acetylthioacetate PEG) is a uniform PEG thiolation reagent that introduces protected thiol (-SH) groups onto primary amine-containing biomolecules through NHS ester-mediated conjugation.

The S-acetylthioacetate (SATA) group masks the thiol during initial coupling and can be deprotected under mild hydroxylamine treatment to reveal the reactive thiol. This controlled activation strategy is ideal for site-specific thiol introduction in proteins, peptides, and other biomolecules, enabling subsequent conjugation or cross-linking while benefiting from PEG’s solubility, stability, and biocompatibility.
