Unconjugated Lectins are naturally occurring carbohydrate-binding proteins that are not covalently linked to any detectable labels, such as fluorophores or biotin. These lectins retain their ability to specifically bind to certain glycan structures on cell surfaces, glycoproteins, or other carbohydrate-containing biomolecules.
Unconjugated lectins are commonly used in glycan analysis to study carbohydrate interactions, map glycan profiles, or perform affinity purification of glycoproteins. In these applications, detection is typically performed using secondary reagents, such as enzyme-linked antibodies or fluorescently labeled glycan probes, allowing for the sensitive and specific visualization of lectin-glycan interactions in various biochemical and cell biology assays.
