Substrates

Substrates are chemical compounds used in enzyme-based detection methods to produce a visible or measurable signal upon reaction with enzyme-conjugated antibodies or probes. In protein detection, common enzymes include horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and alkaline phosphatase (AP), which catalyze substrate conversion to generate colorimetric, chemiluminescent, or fluorescent signals.
