Universal Black Quenchers (UBQ) are a class of quencher molecules used in fluorescent assays to absorb and dissipate energy from nearby fluorescent dyes, thereby suppressing fluorescence emission when the quenching dye is in close proximity to the fluorophore. UBQs are particularly valuable in probe-based assays such as real-time PCR (qPCR) and fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH), where precise control of signal intensity is necessary.
These quenchers are designed to work with a broad range of fluorophores, providing non-specific quenching across multiple wavelengths, making them ideal for multiplexing applications and reducing background interference in experiments involving multiple fluorescent dyes.
