Boc Protected Amino Acids are a class of amino acid derivatives in which the amino group is protected with a tert-butyloxycarbonyl (Boc) group, preventing unwanted reactions during synthetic processes. These Boc-protected amino acids are commonly used in solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) and other peptide conjugation methods, allowing for precise control over the incorporation of amino acids into peptides or proteins. Once the peptide synthesis is complete, the Boc group can be selectively removed to reveal a free amino group, which can then be further reacted with other functional groups or PEG moieties, facilitating controlled and efficient payload delivery in various biomedical applications.
