Haptens

Haptens are small, non-immunogenic molecules that, when conjugated to a larger carrier protein or molecule, can elicit an immune response. In the context of payload delivery linkers and modifiers, haptens are commonly used as functional linkers to modify biomolecules, enabling their recognition by specific antibodies. This conjugation enhances the sensitivity and specificity of assays, such as immunohistochemistry, ELISA, or immunoprecipitation.

Haptens can also be utilized in various drug delivery applications where the payload is selectively delivered to specific sites or cells based on the recognition of the hapten by a targeted antibody or receptor.
