Methyltetrazine-PEG4-Maleimide is a sulfhydryl-reactive reagent that contains a 4-unit ethylene glycol in its spacer arm for increased water-solubility. It enables simple and efficient incorporation of a methyltetrazine moiety onto antibodies, cysteine-containing peptides and other thiol-containing molecules. The maleimide group specifically and efficiently reacts with reduced thiols (sulfhydryl groups, –SH) at pH 6.5 to 7.5 to form stable thioether bonds. The hydrophilic polyethylene glycol (PEG) spacer arm improves solubility in aqueous buffers.
