<p>Anti-Streptavidin antibodies have been widely used as amplifying reagents in immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, microarray assays, ELISAs, blots, and many other applications. Our antibodies to streptavidin are produced in goats using our highly purified streptavidin and isolated by affinity chromatography. Anti-Streptavidin does not bind avidin and Anti-Avidin does not recognize streptavidin. These antibodies provide opportunities to significantly amplify signals in many applications.</p>
<p>DyLight 488 Anti-Streptavidin has been optimally labeled to provide maximum fluorescence.</p>

These antibodies can be used either as part of preformed complexes or in sequence to amplify fluorescent signals. When used in sequence, the target is first labeled with fluorochrome-conjugated avidin or streptavidin, followed by incubation with Biotinylated Anti-Avidin or Biotinylated Anti-Streptavidin, followed by a second layer of fluorochrome-conjugated avidin or streptavidin. This sequence can be repeated. <p>Tomato lectin (from <em>Lycopersicon esculentum</em>) is an effective marker of blood vessels and microglial cells in rodents. Conjugation of the lectin with a fluorophore facilitates fast, one-step detection and visualization using intravascular perfusion methods or direct application to tissue sections.</p>
<p>DyLight<sup>™</sup> 488 labeled tomato lectin has an appropriate number of fluorochromes bound to provide the optimum staining characteristics for this lectin. This conjugate is supplied essentially free of unconjugated fluorochromes. The excitation maximum is at 493 nm and the emission maximum is at 518 nm.</p>

				        <h3>Technical Information</h3><p>Tomato lectin is a very stable single subunit glycoprotein containing about 50 percent arabinose and galactose and may form multimeric aggregates in solution. Tomato lectin, although sharing some specificities with potato lectin, Datura lectin, and wheat germ agglutinin, has been reported to be dissimilar in many respects. LEL binds well to glycophorin and Tamm-Horsfall glycoprotein and has been used effectively to label vascular endothelium in rodents.</p><p>Accompanying each fluorescent lectin is an analysis data sheet summarizing the results of our quality control tests and providing pertinent information on the product. <p>The horse anti-goat Ig antibodies are prepared by hyperimmunizing animals in a manner that produces high affinity antibodies. These are then purified by an affinity chromatography procedure designed to remove any low affinity antibodies which may be present. Cross-reactivities that are likely to interfere with specific labeling are removed by solid-phase adsorption techniques. These are then purified by an affinity chromatography procedure designed to remove any low affinity antibodies which may be present. Cross-reactivities that are likely to interfere with specific labeling are removed by solid-phase adsorption techniques. The final product is then subjected to rigorous quality control assays including immunodiffusion, solid-phase enzyme immunoassays, gel electrophoresis and solid-phase binding assays. In preparing the labeled antibodies, great care is taken to ensure the maximum degree of labeling with no alteration in the specificity and affinity of the antibody. The labeled antibody then undergoes a further series of quality control assays, including immunohistochemical analysis. </p><p>DyLight<sup>™</sup> fluorescent dyes are direct alternatives to traditional fluorophores such as fluorescein (FITC) and rhodamine.
