The large intestinal/colonic epithelium secretes a protective layer of mucus to prevent bacteria and harmful substances from interacting with host cells. Here we show mouse colon stained for mucus producing goblet cells in pink (Muc2 antibody). Agr2, an endoplasmic reticulum protein is present in the secretory Muc2 positive cells and is observed in yellow. Gamma actin staining identifies the actin rich apical membrane of intestinal epithelial cells and can be seen in purple. Nuclei were stained with Hoechst.
Products used: M.O.M.® (Mouse on Mouse) Blocking Reagent – (MKB-2213-1), and VECTASHIELD Antifade Mounting Medium – (H-1000-10).
